“The Assault” is an original riddim created by Inyaki Yarritu, the mastermind behind Basque Dub Foundation (BDF). This is the third creation from Basque Dub Foundation to be released on Heartical Label, the previous ones were the critically-acclaimed “Ministerio Del Dub” featuring the great late Alton Ellis and Sugar Minott, and the "Freedom Rockers" selection including David Hinds (from Steel Pulse) and Carlton Livingston & ASM amongst many others. This new release gathers 11 unreleased vocals, an instrumental and a dub version. This truly international line-up features artists from Jamaica, England, Belgium, Spain and even Haiti!

The legendary veteran Cornel Campbell, who started singing in 1956, graces us with his first release on the Heartical label, giving a warning about the bad media's influence. Also starring for the first time on a Heartical Label release, the vocal trio The Viceroys (a.k.a The Interns, famous for their recordings with Studio One or Sly & Robbie) is in top-form on "Get to know", just like Colour Red (a.k.a Clive Hylton or Jah Clive) on the very biblical "Holy Mount Zion" and Badoo (a.k.a Horace Grossett or Horace Smart) who makes his long awaited return with his song "African Wind". Trevor Junior is another great veteran, coming out of the Youth promotion camp, his lyrics and delivery are still on point as you can hear on the heartfelt "Over & Over". The gifted singer Spiritual has also been around for a while, collaborating with Alborosie amongst others, his unique tone of voice blends perfectly with this BDF's rhythm on which he recorded the song "On that day".

On the deejay side, the “Incredible” General Levy continues his uplifting works on the label delivering some conscious lyrics to remind us that "the stone the builder refused will be the head corner stone". UK based deejay Troublesome already released a cut on Heartical’s "Fade Away" riddim in 2004 and another on "Freedom Rockers" in 2013, this third single called "Johnny Story" is another example of his unique storytelling skills.

Our three last artists come from various places in the world, proving once again that Reggae music a worldwide thing. Based in Malaga, the Spanish sister & brother duo Rootsamala already released many singles on the Heartical Label in the past; they once again put up some sweet vocals & harmonies on "Dark Clouds". Sadly remembering us about the lastest migrants crisis, The Belgian deejay Original Uman teams up with the Italian female singer Valentina for a refugees anthem baptized "Sans frontières". Last but not least, Rebel Layonn is an upcoming singjay living in Haiti; you will feel his talent on "Beg your pardon". To round it up, you can enjoy BDF's melodica cut "Melodica Assault" and also the “Assaulting Dub”, courtesy of Darren Jamtone who also mixed the whole selection... Time to launch an Assault!
