-HS052 – Michael Rose "Downpressor" / BDF “Far East Organ”
One of Jamaica's international reggae legends, Michael Rose is famous for being Black Uhuru's lead singer. In 1985, as the lead singer of the group, he was awarded the first Grammy Award ever received by a Reggae band! During this period, Black Uhuru became one of the most popular reggae groups in the world, regularly touring with the likes of The Clash, The Police and The Rolling Stones. After the group's split, Michael went on a solo career and has been recording successfully for producers like Jammy's, Xterminator, Star Trail or Stingray. He recently scored two massive hits in the International Reggae Charts with “Shoot out” and “Real Jamaican” in combination with Busy Signal. Heartical Sound was introduced to Michael Rose during a stage show in Bilbao/Spain in 1999. In 2001, Michael came to Paris and the vibes was nice again. Heartical and the "Grammy Kid" shared the same stage at Barcelona's Uzona Festival in 2003, the decision was then taken to record some songs for Heartical label, which was actually done a few months later in London, more songs followed and will soon be released on our label. For his 6th release on the Heartical label, voiced in Paris in 2008, Michael Rose delivered some crucial conscious lyrics over BDF's recut of teh Classic « Far East » riddim. On the B-Side, you can listen to Basque Dub Foundation’s organ instrumental cut of the riddim.

-HS053 - Ranking Joe "Rastaman Talk" / Rootsamala "World Crisis"
Veteran DJ Ranking Joe has been around for a while, starting his career at Studio One in 1975, before joining U Roy's SturGav Sound with Jah Screw in 1976. While collaborating with Prince Tony Robinson or Sonia Pottinger, he also voiced many hits for labels like Joe Gibbs, Channel One or Sly & Robbie's Taxi label . He also worked on legendary sets like Emperor Faith, Ray Symbolic or Papa Moke. Settled in the US, he kept on recording for his own label and touring Europe regularly. This is Ranking Joe's second release on Heartical Label, offering some rasta inspired lyrics over BDF's recut of the classic « Far East » riddim. On the other side, you can find another superb track by Spanish vocal duo Rootsamala. Made up of a sister & a brother based in Malaga (Spain), Rootsamala delivers a fourth single on the Heartical label with another conscious lyric, showing their class over BDF’s “Far East” riddim!

-HS054 - Chronicle "Sweet Sensi" / Jah Mikey & DaddyShark "Tune In / Go Before Us"
A truly gifted Jamaican vocalist, strongly inspired by Barrington Levy singing style, Chronicle recorded for many Jamaican labels in the late 80s before going on to record for top NYC label Massive B. Since then, he scored sizeable hits on Bobby Konders label like "Looking my ball", "Light it up", "Jah Rise" or the best seller "My god is real" made famous as one of Black Kat's anthems. This new Chronicle song on Heartical Label pays fully tribute to the original « Sweet Reggae Music » song by Barrington Levy, adapting the lyrics into a wicked « ganjaman » anthem over a heavy recut of the « Far east » riddim played by BDF Band. On teh other side, you can find a combiantion between too underrated veteran deeejays. Jah Mikey, aka Jah Mikes, made his name known in Jamaica & abroad on tapes when he was one of Roots Socialist (a.k.a Papa Roots) top deejays, his lyrics inspired lots of young deejays including Michigan & Smiley for their classic « Nice up the dance ». Daddy Shark is Josey Wales younger brother, he is one of the resident deejays on Sugar Minott's Youthman Promotion sound. These two expert deejays deliver their old school flow on BDF's recut of the classic « far east » riddim.

-HS055 - Carlton Livingston "Once Was A Man" / Papa Kojak "Fuss & Fight"
Veteran Jamaican singer Carlton Livingston is a household name in dancehall since the late 70s with hits for Studio One, Jah Life or Channel One to name but a few. He was touring Europe in 2006, when he recorded his second release for Heartical label, the reality oriented "Once was a man" over BDF's recut of the « Far East » riddim. On the next side, we feature the return of Nigger Kojak a.ka. Papa Kojak. Any real rub a dub collector remembers that he was on top of the game in the late 70's forming the first Jamaican male & female deejay duo with the great Mama Liza. The duo scored hits like "Fist to Fist", "Hole in the Bucket" or "Bam Bam", while Kojalk also released some wicked solo cuts like « Penitentiary » or « massacre ». This Jamaican veteran is still around and Heartical had the pleasure to record a full album with him in 2006. His toasting and chanting ability remains the same 30 years after his debut in Kingston’s dancehalls, as he demonstrates here by riding BDF’s recut of the “Far East” riddim.
